UK Tennis fans had a treat tonight, June 30, 2012. Scotsman Andy Murray was playing Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis at Wimbledon. It is the annual tennis feast which is held in Wimbledon London each June. The tennis ran later than expected partly due to  a Women's match today. The match between Murray and Baghdatis became something of a slog although it remained entertaining. In the end Murray triumphed as the cut off hour of 11pm approached, and passed.

Murray won 7-5, 3-6, 7-5, 6-1. It was the third round of the men's singles which means that there is still some way to go. BBC TV screened the whole match cancelling the evening's full schedule of viewing. The marathon match lasted around four hours taking its toll on both players.

Whether Murray will be able to win through to the final though is debatable. It has been a long time since the UK won a Wimbledon Tennis final of any sorts.

Will this Scotsman defeat the odds this year?
