Opinion: I am used to a myriad of fast food leaflets dropping through my letterbox. but now added to that are a selection of election flyers. Today's included one from the Green's, the first from them, one from Labour and another from the Tories. I have a labour flyer already in my window so it seems a little pointless and certainly a waste of time and money.
I have already received numerous political flyers from Ukip and the others but I hope the Green's was a first and a last. If not what does it say about their stance on climate change and wasting resources?
I had no sooner binned mine though than more arrived.
This time there was another Tory one. This one was addressed to hubby, mine had been directly addressed to me. That was sort of threatening somehow.
It seems though I am not alone. Tory leaflets must be getting delivered nationwide today. One Tweeter called Con_Dem_Nation posted a comment on his Tory post saying, with clear meaning, his smelled of urine!
If you want to stop all this junk mail you can add a note close to your letter box but really, should you have to?
If you choose this option simply write a brief message saying no fast food menus, election leaflets or what you will and the person about to post any through your letter box should desist.
I can testify this does work however once we changed our front door we never quite got around to redoing the message.
As our politicians continue to harp on about climate change and waste surely it is about time junk mail was addressed.
Yes, I know it is one of the few growth industries in the UK but surely it is time to source the material better.
What's wrong with this junk mail being made on eco friendly biodegrable paper? If it was I have two composter in my garden which would happily take them. Better still make election leaflets on toilet paper so that rescipients can put them to truly good use.
Either way cut the climate change crap unless you are going to make some sensible reforms.
