When Tia Sharp disappeared a little over a week ago a missing person case began. That is now a murder inquiry. As they say the plot has thickened rapidly.
The body which was discovered at the home of Ms Sharp is not yet identified but it is assumed that it is 12-year-old Tia. In the last few minutes the police involved in this case have offered their apologies for the time it took them to find the body. In a statement police explained just what the searches of the property involved. Lessons will have to be earned but right now there are more important matters to resolve.
Earlier reports that a man and woman have been arrested have now been solved. Tia's grandmother Christine Sharp was arrested following the arrest of her partner Stuart Hazell. Another man has been arrested accused of helping an offender. All are in police custody and being questioned.
Whilst many of us can probably guess some of what may have happened to Tia that is not constructive. People will have to remain calm and await the result of the police investigation. Little is known yet as to where the body was discovered in the house and how Tia died.
The case appears to be a fast moving one though as yet there is a lot of speculation on line but little hard evidence or facts.
Updates will follow as and when information is released.
Thoughts are with the family. RIP Tia

The latest news is that Stuart Hazell has been charged with the murder of Tia and will appear in court tomorrow, Monday. The body found at Ms Sharp's house was located in the loft. Police have blamed human error as the reason why it was not discovered sooner. Although the body has not formally been identified as Tia the charge against Hazell does name her.
Like so many other similar cases an emotional Hazell spoke through tears on TV, when Tia was believed to be missing. Police apologies continue. The community in New Addington is obviously shocked. Until the full facts are revealed calm is called for.
