Bear in mind that since the previous Labour government the UK has operated a minimum wage scheme. If this were to be cut it would spell disaster for many people. This is most likely where the current Tory thinking is heading. After all in order to con people to work for even less money, that is if they abolish the minimum wage, welfare payments will need to cut to the bone.
The government will see that as necessary to maintain a divide between the working and those on welfare.
But what of the divide between the haves and the have nots?
This week we have also reported on the banking farce in the UK which has seen banking bosses sending emails about sharing bottles of bolly after fixing bank rates which have affected mortgage interest rates in the UK. One of the culprits, as no doubt there are many, was Barclays Chief Bob Diamond. After costing the bank millions of pounds in fines he has graciously said that he will waive his banking bonus for this year. In truth he should be facing criminal charges and more.
We reported yesterday on the fact that Prince Charles taxpayer funded income has been increased. Yet the man has a formidable income from the Duchy of Cornwall which was handed to him on a Royal Platter. No matter how much some in the UK try to justify the Royal cost to British citizens there is no escaping the huge amount of money these people live on. You can preach that the British Royals work hard, bring tourism to the UK, give money to charity and more but there is no escaping the huge financial divide between them and the people.
What galls the most is that ordinary people, as they feel financial pain, are so willing to want to hurt their own. Some will be happy that people aged under 25 in the UK will no longer receive housing benefit and perhaps face even tighter restrictions. Whether or not they support the monarchy and that elusive 1% in the UK is up to them. However can they not see that the true spongers in UK society sit at the top and are not the ordinary person?
There will always be some who will abuse welfare benefits but surely a good fraud team will catch these fiddlers. Who will catch and prosecute those at the top who cheat? When will the necessary reform here be applied.
Look at the image above. Remember JSA or Job Seekers Allowance is only paid for six months of unemployment. You have to meet strict criteria to receive it. You also have to contribute via National Insurance Contributions from your salary to receive it. The self employed of the UK, should their business fold will not revive it. This applies to even small businesses.
It is up to you to decide but consider this. The Tories want to highlight welfare payments to take your anger and attention away from the cost of the Jubilee, Olympics, Royal Family, their salaries, money taken from other budgets for London, and corruption in big business.
Who actually deserves to take a cut in income?
